PROFILE

THOUGHTBARN IS A DESIGN STUDIO THAT CHAMPIONS ARTFUL UTILITY THROUGH BUILDINGS, URBAN STRATEGIES, PUBLIC INSTALLATIONS AND INTERIORS. WE WORK WITH CLIENTS TO REALIZE AMBITIOUS PROJECTS ON TIGHT BUDGETS, USING CREATIVE STRATEGIES THAT COMBINE INVENTION, RESOURCEFULNESS AND COLLABORATION.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Our name playfully alludes to the skillsets we combine under one roof. We operate as both think-tank and workshop, vaulting strong conceptual ideas and research alongside material experiments and full-scale prototyping. Attentive to the urban realm at the same time as the construction detail, we work to create a process which is engaging for clients, craftsmen, and project users alike.

OUR PROCESS

We are a small operation with two managing partners who adapt roles and responsibilities according to project needs. We are supported by six full and part-time employees. When appropriate, we manage the build of our projects in-house. In addition, we are tightly connected to a network of craftsmen and collaborators in design, architecture, landscape, graphics, photography, and fabrication.

OUR SERVICES

TB|DS (THOUGHTBARN/DELINEATE STUDIO LLC)

Our larger architecture projects are produced with our other partner business, TB|DS, THOUGHTBARN/DELINEATE STUDIO. These projects are a joint venture collaboration with Bart Whatley, AIA and his team at Delineate Studio.  Bart and his team have complimentary skillsets to our thinktank / workshop environment. Our collective experience provides exemplory experiences in buildings and environments.
